Day 2: Keylong (3349 m) - Sarchu (4253 m), Distance: 107 KM

Day 2: Keylong (3349 m) - Sarchu (4253 m), Distance: 107 KM
Original Plan: Start ride at 7:00 AM from Keylong and reach Sarchu at 4:00 PM. 107 KM via Baralacha La.
Actual: Started ride at 8:00 AM and reached Sarchu at 4:30 PM
During our initial discussion with Vikas he mentioned that these two days will be difficult. Not in terms of ride, but weather. Weather can be worst and we won’t be able to contact family till we reach Leh. So, we were already haunted with these thoughts. And this usually happens with me, when we woke up at Keylong it was pouring.
We got ready, filled our tummies (usual different forms of eggs in breakfast) and prayed to the Old Gods and the New (Being a GOT Fan) for the rains to stop. Gods were with Khaleesi it seems and because of which we were left alone in Keylong to face the mighty rains.
From the dining hall of the hotel, I was looking at a beautiful mountain peak. The owner of the hotel came to me and said it is Baralacha La and it might be snowing out there. I start shivering at the very moment (exaggeration) I went to friends and warned that it might be snowing out there at the peak so gift wrap yourself in thermals and rain coats. I wrapped myself in a Dark blue rain coat and wore a pair of Gum Boots to protect the feet.

We started from the hotel 1 hr late then we planned. Went to Keylong city to fill our pockets with money considering we might need them. Fill the backup vehicle with Mineral water bottles and off we went on the highway. As soon as we got on the T&T, we saw a huge stone falling from the mountain. And guess what, the stone fell just near the legs of a rider from another group. He really had a lucky day. We stopped near him, and chatted with him, by the time his fellow riders joined. And then we moved on. We saw a continuous sign indicating that this is a Land Slide prone zone so we had to ride safe. This is the time when Pillions help as they can keep a watch on the mountainsJ. Once we reached Jispa, the road was good.
